===== Floor coverings =====

To visualise a floor covering in a real room in MR, the room must first be measured. With a little practice, this can be done in less than a minute with a prepared room using the headset.

//Note: When visualising virtual content, in this case the floor covering, the virtual content is always displayed before the real content. The room should therefore be empty if possible. Otherwise you could walk in front of these objects. So be careful when moving around the room with VR glasses on.//

For measuring you need:
  * The visualiser product 'Floor Creator'
  * A VR headset (Meta Quest 3 or 3s), see [[en:requirements#hardware]]
  * The Logitech MX Ink Controller
  * A room that is sufficiently lit

How to measure a room:
  - Make sure you can comfortably reach every corner of the room with the pen in your hand
  - Open the visualiser product 'Floor Creator' in your headset browser
  - Take the left standard controller in your left hand and the Logitech MX Ink controller in your right hand
  - //Note: The right standard controller must remain close to you (e.g. in the same room).//
  - Start the 'Floor Creator' by clicking on ''Get started now'' in the tool area on the right-hand side
  - Select the 'AR' item in the screen dialogue that opens
  - Now go to any corner of the room
  - Hold the tip of the pen in a corner of the room and press the back button on the pen to set a measuring point
  - Go clockwise or anti-clockwise to the next corner and set another measuring point
  - Continue in the selected direction until you have marked all corners of the room with a measuring point.
 
While you are setting the measuring points, you will see a translucent red area on the floor. This is the area to which you can assign a floor covering (a texture). To do this, go back to the main menu and select the 'Texture' menu item.

You can go back to editing the floor at any time and move the measuring points, insert new ones or remove them.

If the measuring tape {{vproduct:pasted:20250115-153210.png}} is activated in the 'Floor Creator', you will see all distance measurements. These are displayed on the floor between the measuring points.

The floor coverings displayed are differentiated by producer and are divided into [[info:flooring-categories|categories]].
