Room measurement
Room measurement makes it possible to reliably measure a room with any corners and edges in MRplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigMixed Reality (MR)
Mixed reality, often referred to as mixed reality, is a technology that combines the physical world with computer-generated elements in real time. In contrast to pure virtual reality, in which the user is completely immersed in a digital world, and augmented reality, in which digital elements are superimposed on the real world, mixed reality enables interaction between real and virtual objects. As a rule, the user sees the real world, recorded by cameras, as an image of their… with a high degree of accuracy. The measuring accuracy is approx. 4 mm over 5 metres and can be increased to 2 mm over up to 50 metres by using a laser measuring device.
Requirements
For measuring you need:
- The visualiser product 'Floor Covering Editor'
- A room that is normally lit
- A VRplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigVirtual reality (VR)
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer-generated, interactive environment in which a person can fully immerse themselves. With the help of special devices such as VR glasses, the real world is completely replaced by a simulated one. The user experiences a three-dimensional, artificial environment that can appeal to all the senses. headset (Meta Quest 3 or 3s), see Hardware - The Logitech MX Ink Controller (see Pen controller )
- Optional for millimetre-precise measurement: a Laser measuring device
measure a room
This is how you measure a room:
- Make sure you can comfortably reach every corner of the room with the pen in your hand
- Open the visualiser product 'Floor Covering Editor' in your headset browser
- Take the left standard controller in your left hand and the Logitech MX Ink controller in your right hand
- Note: The right standard controller must remain close to you (e.g. in the same room).
- Start the room measurement by clickplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigClick
Depending on the device, clicking refers to the user action for selecting an element. For devices with a mouse, this means pointing to the element followed by pressing the left mouse button. For devices with touch displays, this means tapping or tapping and holding (iOS: long touch). In theing onStart now

- Hold the tip of the pen in a corner of the room and press the back button on the pen to set a measurement point
- Go clockwise or anti-clockwise to the next corner and set another measuring point
- Continue in the selected direction until you have marked all corners of the room with a measuring point.
While you are setting the measuring points, you will see a translucent red area on the floor. This is the area to which you can assign a floor covering (a textureplugin-autotooltip__default plugin-autotooltip_bigTexture
A texture is an image that is displayed on the surface of a virtual body in order to change the surface properties such as colour, roughness, metalness, normal vectors and others.) using the floor covering editor, for example.
In detail
Modes for the measuring points
Measuring points are set with the 'Standard' mode. Another mode determines the behaviour of the measuring points. The following modes are available:
- Standard
- Fixed angle
- Intersection point
Data export
When exporting data, all visible elements are exported for the formats that export a 3D model.
